Giving less financial detail in tenders seems to give a higher conversion rate.

A few months ago I decided to change the way we present bids to customers. Previously we would do something like this:

Item Labour Cost Materials Cost Total
Thing 1 £100 £50 £150
Thing 2 £200 £75 £275
Totals £300 £125 £425
Description: Detailed text description goes here. Thing 1 is ABC, but not D. Thing 2 is EFG, but not H.

Now we do something more like this:

Item Total
Total £425
Description: Detailed text description goes here. Thing 1 is ABC, but not D. Thing 2 is EFG, but not H.

There have been 2 major outcomes

  1. Conversion rate has increased from 26% to 34%
  2. Customers haggle far less

Has anyone else experienced anything similar or have any observations?
