I remember a little while back reading about an option for a specific type of account that can receive ACH payments, but can't be used to withdraw or ACH out funds. The idea being that it is the account that you provide to anyone needing to send payments to you so that if the number is compromised it doesn't matter.
We recently had a box of checks stolen, and the bank recommended we completely close our account and open a new one. We don't really want to do that because we do a huge amount of subcontracting and would have to change our payment information with several dozen customers. If we do change the information, we want to never need to change it again.
Does anyone know what the receive-only ACH account is called? I've searched a few relevant terms and can't find the name of it.
